Description My husband promised my son he could have a pet fish, which resulted in a 5 gallon tank and many fishy tales of woe as we learned about keeping aquariums. I took many photos and the goldfish are based on one of them. The fantail was never given a name, but the 10 cent feeder fish, Henry II, was a replacment a large goldfish named Henry. The background is based on a 10 gallon tank we currently have and was mostly painted live. The plants in the painting are water sprite (a fast growing favorite of mine) and a red melon sword. Eventually, we switched to tropical fish and currently use the 5 gallon tank to raise the babies or house sick fish. In addition to the aforementioned 10 gallon display tank, we also have a 20 gallon display tank. The actual painting is 20'x30' and was lots of fun to paint.

My fine art explores various mediums through abstraction and realism. Cats, horses, monarch butterflies and old buildings being reclaimed by nature are common subjects. Currently, we share our house with 3 Maine Coon cats. During the summer we raise monarchs and other butterflies as a family project. You can follow our monarch journey through Facebook as well as find educational info on raising monarchs and milkweed.
